Hootsuite has laid off employees from its office in Vancouver, amid reports of a “global reorganisation”.
In an email statement to Human Resources, Hootsuite’s corporate communications manager, Sandy Pell said: “Hootsuite has completed a global reorganisation to create a simpler, more aligned business that is purpose-built to support our over 10 million customers, and scale to a multi-billion dollar enterprise.”
This reorganisation has led to the employee layoffs.
“With this reorganisation, we have merged some business units and cut others, which unfortunately meant we had to transition a number of employees out of the business.”
Hootsuite, however, pointed to recent leadership additions and its continued focus on social innovation, stating it is “well positioned for success”.
“In fact, we will hire more than 100 people in 2016 under this new organisational structure.”
The announcement, when reported in Canada-based Georgia Straight as well as Globalnews.ca, cited job cuts of 20 employees based in the firm’s Vancouver operations.
