The use of “inefficient”, manual tools such as emails have been cited as one of the reasons why staff are not contributing effectively to the business.
However, with emails currently being the go-to mode of communication in most businesses, taking up valuable time to respond to them has become a necessary evil.
Thankfully, with the new Smart Reply function by Gmail, emails can now reply itself.
Knowing that checking and replying emails on the go can be time consuming and cumbersome especially through a tiny smartphone screen, this new function which will be added to Gmail later this week.
The function will use artificial intelligence to guess which emails can be answered with a short reply, and accordingly prepare a few responses – making responding to emails just a tap away.

“Smart Reply suggests up to three responses based on the emails you get. For those emails that only need a quick response, it can take care of the thinking and save precious time spent typing. And for those emails that require a bit more thought, it gives you a jump start so you can respond right away,” Bálint Miklós, software engineer at Google wrote in a post on the official Google for work blog.
The responses chosen (or not) will help improve future suggestions.
Miklós added: “For example, when Smart Reply was tested at Google, a common suggestion in the workplace was “I love you.” Thanks to Googler feedback, Smart Reply is now SF.”
