The rate at which Human Resources and Administrative professionals are being hired online has declined in the past year, despite there still being a demand for HR management skills in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines.

According to the latest Monster Employment Index (MEI), all three markets have experienced a drop in e-recruitment activity for these job roles between October 2014 and October 2015.

However, in both Singapore and the Philippines, HR and Admin talent are the fourth most in-demand professionals out of all occupational groups surveyed by the Index.  The MEI by Monster.com records industries and occupations that show the highest and lowest growth in recruitment activity in various markets.

In Singapore, HR and Admin jobs are still reporting negative growth at -6% year-over-year for October 2015 – a slight decrease from the -5% registered in September 2015. In the Philippines, these roles have witnessed an -18% decline, dropping further from -11% registered in September.

Malaysia HR and Admin jobs have recorded the steepest decline at -22% year-over-year.

HR & Admin jobs:

“Businesses across these three markets do need skilled HR professionals to help recruit and retain staff, but this is not being seen at the same level as a year ago. However, we do expect to see these online hiring statistics increase in a positive direction, but this is not likely until hiring activity across numerous industries ramps up in Q1 2016,” said Sanjay Modi, Managing Director, Monster.com (India, Middle East, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong).

Singapore Highlights

• The Monster Employment Index Singapore declines 7% year-on-year.
• The Education sector leads online hiring activity, while the Consumer Goods/ FMCG, Food & Packaged Food, Home Appliances, Garments/ Textiles/ Leather, Gems and Jewellery industry exhibit the steepest annual dip.
• Healthcare professionals experienced the highest demand of all job categories.

Malaysia Highlights

• The Monster Employment Index Malaysia witnessed negative annual growth of -24% between October 2014 and 2015.
• Year-on-year growth is negative for all industry groups. The BFSI sector registered the least decline while Oil and Gas had the steepest annual slump.
• Marketing & Communications professionals witnessed the highest online demand.

Philippines Highlights

• The Monster Employment Index Philippines registered a 30% decline year-on-year.
• The BFSI sector exhibited the steepest annual growth, while Production/Manufacturing, Automotive and Ancillary registered the most notable decline.
• All occupation groups registered negative annual growth.

The Monster Employment Index (MEI) is a monthly gauge of online job posting activity, based on a real-time review of millions of employer job opportunities culled from a large representative selection of career websites and online job listings across Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines.
