Hong Kong-based AIDS Concern as appointed the head of HR, Wendy Koo, to head corporate partnerships as well as HR.

She has been with the non-government charity since 2014, and has previously worked in HR roles at Defond Group, Strix, and K11 Concepts, among others.

She told Human Resources the new role entails building relations with corporates for organisational fund raising purposes, and providing solutions to them on CSR and brand building projects.

She said: “This is a combination of a marketing and CSR role, aimed at creating synergy between AIDS Concern and corporates to achieve a win-win result.”

As she now wears two hats, she credits her HR colleague in taking on a part of the HR role.

“Fortunately my team mate in HR can handle most routine HR functions independently. My role in HR, thus, becomes more about consulting and providing directions on key issues,” she said.

She added that her new role, while balancing HR and corporate partnerships, also offers synergy between the two functions, in that “most people skills and some networks can be transformed to the new role, especially when CSR becomes a more concerning topic in the HR field.”
